semilingualism and second-class citizens
The known cases of children Ibiza and Valencia, students, public school system English who are prevented examined in their native language (English, official nationwide), are evidence of an unusual phenomenon in Europe, which only occurs in the Faeroe Islands and in bilingual regions of Spain. It is only the visible tip of an iceberg that has long opened a leak in the ship of equality.
Since the late seventies (and it has rained), Canadian J. Cummins, an international authority on learning of languages, has emphasized what he calls interdependence theory. According to Cummins, proficiency in a second language is largely proportional to the competence acquired in the mother tongue which is essential and indispensable factor for the acquisition of language skills in general and, therefore, to achieve intellectual achievements, whether academic or professional performance. Cummins defines its threshold theory different types of bilingualism: semilingualism with a poor level in both languages, bilingualism is dominated by one of the two languages and additive bilingualism, with high levels of both. Faced with the subsequent acquisition of native language literacy and second language (and third), according to this body of theory lead to a desirable additive bilingualism, language immersion in the mother tongue semilingualism would direct cause, ie a poor acquisition of two languages (whether imposed by the educational system as the mother) and, therefore, a reduction of the powers of abstraction and problem solving with implications negative for school success and a mature personality.
Language immersion children do not speak Catalan in Galicia, Basque Country, Navarra, Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands has therefore implications beyond the question of identity, a question which, of course, but anyone interested politicians have made her flag and livelihood. Added to other factors common to the rest of the English educational system, dipping deep into the poor quality of education because it puts political goals totes (the promotion of a language or allegedly own identity) to the objectives that should be the priority of the education system (to ensure dense and critical education: educating citizens). Also unfair because it violates individual liberty, the immersion is therefore profoundly inadequate with regard to the purposes of education. Due to the immersion, as evidenced by national and international reports, the significant decline in academic standards of universities such as galloping or reduction UIB competitiveness of regions like Catalonia or traditionally vibrant Basque Country, several generations of English have seen their professional qualifications (the real one, not reflected in the certificates issued by the system), their employability and their ability to criticize the political system and access to consumer goods. Are second-class citizens, just the thing for those politicians who have promoted this state of affairs and that, however, their offspring enrolled in private schools where they can choose the language of instruction. Second-class citizens on the other hand shaping a country less competitive and less worked, burned to the economic crisis that other countries manage to overcome more easily. Neither
immersion advocate radical PSOE and its partners nor the invention trilingual PP Feijoo and solve this problem. From UPyD appeal to common sense: do not want semilingual citizens or semi-free, nor semiinstruidos. We want first-class citizens and our effort will be aimed at ensuring freedom of choice of language used in teaching their children. It is our commitment from our foundation and take you to the institutions with the confidence of citizens. Digital Journalist .

How To Raise A Platform Bed
A lack of rigor or bad faith?
is not the first time Guillem Rosselló concerning our formation in negative terms. Attesting that accept UPyD criticism willingly-we are a party essentially critical and aspire to a critical vote, "but we are also pleased to see hiciese criticism about what actually say and not what some buccaneers of the opinion that we prefer to invent. And above all, always on the same arguments, it is frankly difficult to defend when one columnist, "Mr. Rossello, without going any further, accusing us a day to be a communist party and the next to be the extreme right. Complicated.
In his recent article "Rosa Díez or biased view of Spain and democracy" ( Last Time , 11/09/1927), attacks UPyD attributing uncertainty: "After reading and reflecting [ sic], one can not define whether Rosa Díez is on the left, the PSOE which arose, or the right of trying to nurture." I will gladly answer: UPyD is not left nor right, but cross. In our liberal and social-military party concerned about sectarian and anti-democratic drift of our country, derived from the same writings that Mr. Rosselló are proof. Ya, I know a little sidetracked sometimes vote with the PP and others with the Galician Nationalist Bloc, but is that we do we like to listen to everybody without preconceptions. Our unforgivable peculiarity is that citizens feel able to think for themselves and choose depending on the offer, and not sectarian slogans. It is normal that Mr. Rosselló not clear, or maybe it is that neither read nor thought as he says he did.
According to columnist, Rosa Díez feeds "hatred of autonomy" and is a "pre-constitutional leader" who "says that all state power should be in Madrid." No wonder you look like a "biased view of Spain": I, too, it would seem. But, look, since its founding manifesto (2007), has defended UPyD improving the state of autonomous and, in particular from the paper policy adopted in our First Congress on 21 November, we define our model of state and cooperative federalism, decentralization so dear that we are the only national party that defends federalism in Spain. Very different thing is that, as she might like Mr. Rosselló, cuestionásemos the unity of the nation, but no: for us the unity of Spain is unquestionable, and federalism, only the best way to secure, through a catalog of powers constitutionally closed to list what skills are among the autonomous communities of all alike, and which the State, so that no unfortunate combination of a central government with no sense of status and certain premises unfair, as happens today, you can put each year's competition and solidarity on the table in exchange, for example, voting for budgets. But our federalism declared it does not matter to Mr. Rosselló, who speaks of a "rancid nationalism" he recalls, could not be otherwise, the Franco regime and its "cultural genocide" [ sic] and "another fascism : the single party or the medieval kingdoms of those in which only the nobles had the word. " No comments.
What about at such laxity? It occurs to me: that Mr. Rosselló one of the most glaring examples of junk journalism that I have news in recent years. The service is not clear whether their own sectarianism and ignorance or, conversely, of someone very interested in UPyD unsuccessful, each of its lines is a lie or is born of ignorance of the reality that says comment . Assumptions either disqualifies him as a journalist, and certainly certifies the mortally afraid that some political sectors begin to experience in the Balearics since a citizen and as a progressive option is to UPyD threatens to shift the balance of forces in local politics. Courage, Mr. Rosselló, keep doing this you call your opinion. Maybe you prefer continue to rely on the honesty and progressive political parties such as UM, PP or PSIB, which certainly does not seem stale or Franco or genocide ... If one judges left standing after this term. Be encouraged that we so afraid. Last Time. Digital Journalist.

Catchy Phrases For 21st Birthday Invitation
Regime and Citizen Journalism
The fact that twelve Catalan newspapers have today published a joint editorial titled "The dignity of Catalonia " to pressure the Constitutional Court for a ruling on the statute that is next to the postulates nationalist, has been presented as something unusual and, of course, as referred to above, it is. However, it unusual course does not mean that there is a perfectly predictable.
The text attempts to delegitimize the first to TC, since the ten members eligible to vote in this case (one died and another is challenged), four working under extension have not agreed political parties for their replacement. In UPyD have denounced the politicization and consequent lack of efficiency of the procedure for filling vacancies to the TC, but the only way to change what we do not like the system that much, is political reform and in particular, reform constitutional, and it has its requirements. Meanwhile, we can only get rid of the arbitrary if all respect the rules are for everyone. Questioning the legitimacy of the Tribunal, and in such a sensitive time, is of great audacity and political irresponsibility, but questioning their judgments only when we do not like, and when we do not go well, is a deplorable intellectual poverty or a bad faith that insults the citizenry and, in particular, to the readers.
Not content to despise the TC, the publisher is allowed to establish what is progressive and democracy: "The real dilemma is forward or backward," "is in play the dynamics constitutional spirit of 1977 that made possible the peaceful transition. " It is true that many, inside and outside Catalonia believe is at stake in the spirit of the Transition, but not just by default, but excess: the state has lost sight autonomous referents as solidarity and equality, and the ruling of the TC depends steps we take to the dislocation of Spain and the final inequality among its citizens or containing it.
Very serious is the relativity of the laws is clear from paragraphs like that in stating that "there is no absolute justice, only justice of the case, why the legal basis for excellence is prudence." Submit prudence and guarantee that everyone will be treated equally before the law as values faced, as if one could be without the other, is simply contrary to the rule of law. TC prefaced the political expediency to the strict interpretation of the rule would enter fully into the category of institutional coup, and the proposed twelve rotary is demagogic and therefore immoral. But worse is still calling the contempt implicit in a threatening tone phrases like "these days, the Catalans think, above all, their dignity should be known." Or: "If necessary Catalan solidarity will articulate the legitimate response of a responsible society." For much appeal is made to the responsibility, what can be interpreted when the pages of a journal encourages people to "respond" against a decision rendered by the institution to issue and call the Constitution in accordance with the law in form and substance? Today Jorge de Esteban has argued World the alleged commission of a crime of usurpation of authority by the Catalan regional authorities (art. 508.2 CP). Elaborating on this route, I think, if as a result of the editorial published today, occurring after the opinion of the TC public disorder, would be to consider the application to those responsible for the text of art. CP 545 and subsequent induction speaking, provocation or proposal for sedition. Not to mention the art. 118 of the Constitution, which requires everyone to comply with the rulings of the courts ... But the Government's attitude does not augur any action by the Public Prosecutor on behalf of institutions. The same Rodríguez Zapatero, asked by the editorial comment has been made to smile, affirming that this is a manifestation of freedom of expression and ensure that he had read with great interest. Another who was not a spendthrift would have frowned and replied that: "The independence of the TC is sacred, and anyone who touches it will face the Government in the courts."
This surely will not bring further consequences that the usual folklore independence because seny of Catalan citizens far exceeds its impresentable ruling class. But it is still sad that the Catalan public discourse has departed from reason and common interest to defend only the new autonomous chieftains and their customers. The best thinkers of our time Catalans (Felix de Azua, Albert Boadella, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Arcadi Espada) are now explicitly set against something that can not be regarded rather than the regime. The Catalan political acts outside of their citizenship.
should be noted that despite a passionate campaign funded largely by money amplified from public institutions, participation in the referendum held at the time for the approval of the controversial plebiscite statute was so low that, compared to 90% of the Catalan parliament had supported the project, no more than a third of the Catalans expressed their inclination to it. Faced with such a glaring disconnect between politicians and citizens (the Catalans have problems that have nothing to do with nationality), the press of the Principality chosen by politicians. But no wonder: it is worth recalling at this point, as today has made Albert Rivera, who pays the salaries and benefits in the media Catalans: the Nationalist politicians themselves have promoted all this tremendous blunder. All newspapers that subscribe as worthy editorial - all - receive institutional grants and advertising, in most cases, essential for their survival. The publisher, therefore, is not only irrational and unjust: it is also entitled without any success, because of what this text is speaking of the dignity of Catalonia, but the indignity of some Catalans who prefer to keep chairs and at the expense mamandurrias of freedom and information that deserve your citizenship. The problem of the press in Spain, muscle-flexing to the autonomous powers by means of subsidies, Catalonia is compounded significantly due to the product identity. We should all learn a lot of irresponsible editorial today, and act accordingly. Digital Journalist. Liberal Spain.
